Blackjack on Our Floor
At our property on 30 Bay Street in the heart of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, blackjack is a regular live table game on the main floor. It sits in the same core pit as Three Card Poker with 6 Card Bonus, DJ Wild Stud Poker, and Ultimate Texas Hold’em. These titles form the foundation of our table offering, they are not an occasional feature or a seasonal add-on. If your whole reason for coming in is to sit at a blackjack table, that is a very normal way to use the property.
We have been part of the local casino scene since 1999, originally opening as OLG Casino Sault Ste. Marie, which was Northern Ontario’s first full-time casino. Operations now sit with Gateway Casinos and Entertainment out of Burnaby, British Columbia. That ownership detail matters in practice because it means our blackjack tables run under approved Ontario house rules and within a provincial regulatory framework. The result is straightforward: consistent rules, regulated payouts, clear accountability.
For the latest status on which table games are open and when, the most accurate snapshot is always on saultstemarie.gatewaycasinos.com/gaming/table-games. It is worth a quick check before you get in the car, especially if you are planning around a particular window of time.
Table Games Hours
This is where people most often mis-time their visit. Our building is open Sunday through Thursday from 9 am to 2 am, with later closing hours on Friday and Saturday. Table games, including blackjack, do not run for that whole stretch. They operate on their own schedule. Walking in mid-morning hoping to sit down at blackjack will not line up with how we actually run the pit.
| Day | Table Games Hours |
|---|---|
| Wednesday | 5:00 pm - 1:00 am |
| Thursday | 5:00 pm - 1:00 am |
| Sunday | 5:00 pm - 1:00 am |
| Friday | 4:30 pm - 2:30 am |
| Saturday | 4:30 pm - 2:30 am |
Based on current official information, Monday and Tuesday are not scheduled as table game days. That detail can shift with demand or operational changes, so the most reliable approach is to call us on the day you plan to come in. Our main line is 705-759-0100 and our general email is [email protected].
This is also a practical point that applies to any regulated casino: if your visit hinges on one specific game like blackjack, confirm hours with the property itself. Third-party listings and directories tend to update slowly and they often lag behind real schedule adjustments.
Getting to the Table - How It Actually Works
If you have not been in for some time, or you are walking into our floor for the first time, the flow into a blackjack session is fairly simple. In the industry it is standard to handle entry and seating this way, and we follow that practice.
- Before you leave home, check the table games hours, not just general casino hours.
- Bring valid government-issued photo ID with you. The legal gambling age in Ontario is 19 and we verify this at the front door.
- If you are 21 or under, also pack a second piece of ID. This is a firm policy with no exceptions at our property.
- Once inside, move toward the table games area. If it is not obvious, any staff member on the floor can point you directly.
- Wait for the dealer to finish the current hand, then take an open seat at the blackjack table.
- Exchange your cash for chips with the dealer. This transaction is done at the table, not at a separate counter.
- Place your wager in the betting circle before the dealer starts the next deal, then play out your hand - hit, stand, double down, or split according to your own approach and the cards you are dealt.
- When you decide to wrap up your session, bring your remaining chips to the cage and cash out there.
Table minimums and maximums are set per table and sometimes shift with time of day or overall volume. According to standard market practice, we post limits clearly, but the quickest way to confirm is simply to ask the dealer or floor staff when you sit down. They will give you the current numbers on that specific game.
